Cigna offers free transportation to Medicare Advantage members for COVID-19 vaccine

In an effort to help older Americans get access to get the COVID-19 vaccine, Cigna is covering transportation to and from vaccine sites at no extra cost to Cigna Medicare Advantage plan (MAPD) customers. This new transportation benefit for vaccinations is available even if you do not offer transportation coverage on your plan.

Cigna is working with its Medicare Advantage transportation vendor, Access2Care, which coordinates transportation for customers. Participating transportation companies will vary by location.

Because some vaccines require two doses, Cigna will cover up to four one-way trips of up to 60 miles each for the purpose of getting vaccinated. Transportation for one adult companion is included to accommodate caregivers. For patient privacy reasons, the service will not be available to drive-through clinics. Riders and drivers must wear masks and follow COVID-19 guidelines.

More information, including how to schedule a ride, is available online at Cigna.com/COVIDMA and myCigna.com. You can also read the news release for additional details.
